# SV Number lets AI agents handle SMS verification via MCP server and API

SV Number, a service that rents temporary phone numbers for SMS verification, announced on 22 October 2026 that AI agents can now handle the SMS verification step on their own, using the provider's Model Context Protocol (MCP) server and API.

An agent can read a web page or fill in a form, but an SMS check requires access to a phone number and its incoming code. SV Number makes both available as tools: after the account owner connects an account and funds the balance, the agent can request a number for a selected service and country, wait for the code and pass it on to the workflow it is running. Checking price and availability before ordering lets the workflow decide whether to proceed with the chosen service and country.

According to the announcement, each number is rented for a 20-minute activation window and assigned exclusively to the customer during that period. The number can also be used instead of a personal phone number when signing up to the service being verified, and once configured the agent handles the SMS step without a team member buying each number and reading each code by hand.

The server code is published on GitHub (sv-number/mcp-server) and in the official MCP registry; the same tools are also available as a public API and as an agent skill. The provider notes that whether a service accepts a given number always depends on the online service itself.
