# Pakistan caps SIM registrations at five per CNIC

*Regulation · 2 Nov 2026*

Pakistan's Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has clarified that a maximum of five SIM cards can be registered against a single Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC). Once the limit is reached, no sixth SIM can be obtained with the same CNIC.

The restriction applies to mobile SIM registration against an individual's CNIC and is meant to keep connections under proper control and verification. Anyone who already holds five SIMs registered to their CNIC would have to deactivate or transfer an existing connection before getting another one.

For number services this matters where SIM-based numbers or SIM supply in Pakistan are concerned: the cap limits how many SIMs one person can register there.
